The Theory Test
The Driving theory test is now taken as a 2 part test. The first part is a multiple choice that consists of 50 questions.. The pass mark for this is 43. If you get 42 or under you will fail. The exam is taken on a "Touch Screen Computer" and full explanations will be given prior the test.

The second part of the test is the Hazard Perception test (HPT). This involves video clips  where the candidate has to identify a developing hazard. The sooner the hazard is identified, the more marks you get. You can get a maximum of 5 marks. The longer you take to identify the hazard the quicker you lose marks. It then goes down to 4, 3, 2, 1 or 0 marks. One question has 2 developing hazards and carries a high of10 marks. The pass mark is 44 out of a possible 75

Both tests have to be passed at the same time in order for a pass certificate to be issued.
